Breaking | Report claims West Ham dressing room ‘minor incident’, team coach leaves one behind

It appears the fall out from West Ham’s capitulation this afternoon continued off the pitch and into the Hammers dressing room: Unsubstantiated reports suggest security were called to the away dressing room at the Stadium of light this afternoon and somewhat alarmingly one journalist claims the Hammers team bus departed one person short.

The performance on the pitch was bad enough but events afterward suggest a ‘Lopetegui-style ‘ fracas, enough to call on-site security and ‘authorities’, occurred after the game.

IF and I repeat IF it is correct that ‘on-site security and authorities’‘ were called to the away dressing room, as claimed by journalist Luca Chianti then evidently there was a fallout after the 3-0 loss: The tweet put out by the journalist, if true, makes for grim reading after the Hammers ‘summer of love’ pre-season training camp: Potter’s management team-building exercises were said to be producing harmony and team spirit!

‘Officials confirm no arrests made for “minor incident” in Sunderland AFC stadium post game. West Ham team coach departs without manager Graham Potter onboard. No indication now if scheduled or not.’

Maybe a storm in a teacup, maybe more. In fairness, other ‘sources’ claim Potter did leave on the bus. But it isn’t looking very ‘United’ at present. You’d have to think twice if you were a player considering coming to West Ham just now. We’ll try and get some more information from the club this evening.

The journalist concerned describes himself on twitter as “Head Of European Sports @ The Eco. Consultant for Reuters, AP & others”: Make of it what you will, but the optics are not good.
