Bucks predicted to regret $107 million deal for Myles Turner

The Milwaukee Bucks have made some big moves this offseason, but they might not all pan out well.

Over the past couple of months, the Bucks have been doing everything they can to avoid the departure of Giannis Antetokounmpo. Although Antetokounmpo appears content and is ready for another season with the only franchise he’s ever played for, there are still plenty of doubts about what his long-term future might hold.

In a somewhat desperate attempt to keep their star happy, the Bucks waived and stretched Damian Lillard to make room for Myles Turner to come in for the next four years. Stealing Turner away from the Indiana Pacers was a surprising move, but it proved that the Bucks were still willing to get aggressive to give themselves a chance in the East.

However, there’s a legitimate chance that move will backfire, as explained by Zach Buckley in a recent [Bleacher Report](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25235865-predicting-nbas-best-and-worst-offseason-moves-1-year) article. Buckley noted that the Bucks’ $107 million deal with Turner could handicap their chances of making big moves in the future.

Although Turner is certainly a good starting center and was just the starter on an NBA Finals team, he isn’t a star. With the rest of the Bucks’ roster beyond their starting frontcourt, there isn’t much championship-level talent, which could inevitably result in Antetokounmpo’s exit.

Milwaukee has all of next season to prove the doubters wrong and show that Antetokounmpo can lead the team to success without another star. However, if the pieces don’t fit perfectly and the lack of star talent begins to become too evident to ignore, the Bucks could be headed for a dark period.
