Tijjani Reijnders scored one and assisted another whilst Erling Haaland bagged a brace to inspire City to a 4-0 victory over Wolves, commencing our 2025/26 Premier League campaign in perfect fashion.
Before the game, everyone inside Molineux held a minute of applause for former Wolves forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who both sadly passed away earlier this summer, with the home faithful also unfurling a tifo in Diogo’s memory.
The encounter marked City’s ninth successive season with an away opening fixture, winning seven out of the previous eight, and shortly after the half hour mark, Erling Haaland tapped in to score in our first Premier League game for the fourth campaign in a row.
Reijnders showed incredible footwork in midfield to dribble forward and protect the ball, before scooping a delicate pass through for Rico Lewis, whose drilled cross across the box was finished by our No.9.

Three minutes later, the lively Oscar Bobb won the ball back in midfield and played the ball through to Reijnders on the left side of the box, whose superb first-time strike nestled into the far corner to double our lead.
On the hour mark, Reijnders was again in the thick of the action, receiving the ball from goalkeeper James Trafford and bursting forward smoothly.
After a neat one-two with Bobb, the Dutchman cut the ball to the edge of the box for the onrushing Haaland to slam into the corner beyond the sprawling Jose Sa.
A wonderful team performance was then capped off with a superb debut goal from substitute Rayan Cherki just eight minutes after coming onto the pitch, who got the ball back after his neat flick in the build-up, and rifled into the bottom left corner with his right foot.
