Brighton 1-1 Fulham: Post-match Fulham player ratings

It was left late in the opening game, as Rodrigo Muniz rescued a point for Fulham in the 97th minute, resulting in a 1-1 draw against Brighton.

Muniz has been linked with a big-money move to Atalanta, but that didn’t stop him from producing the goods. His wonderful touch and finish from a corner earned his side a point.

After a clumsy Sander Berge challenge gave Brighton a penalty, with Matt O’Riley converting against his former side, Fulham found themselves behind.

It was a good defensive performance from Fulham, but it lacked an attacking spark, something the club will look to improve in the transfer market after limited business.

Fulham player ratings:

Bernd Leno - 6

The keeper had little to do during the game, but was close to putting the ball in his own net after a tame Diego Gomez effort from range.

Kenny Tete - 6

The Dutchman was solid all game, limiting Kaoru Mitoma's involvement. Tete had a massive chance at 1-0 that he blazed over the bar, but should have done better.

Joachim Andersen - 6

The centre back pushed up into midfield at times, helping his side win the ball back quickly. Andersen dealt well with the threat of the Brighton attack and sprayed his trade mark diagonal passes forward.

Jorge Cuenca - 6.5

Cuenca had limited playing time last season as he came into the side due to the injuries at left back. He was solid throughout and looked very comfortable against Georginio Rutter.

Calvin Bassey - 7

Replacing Antonee Robinson is a huge task for anyone, but Bassey did a brilliant job. The centre back by trade was strong and aggressive, and he got forward when he needed to.

Sander Berge - 5

The midfielder conceded the penalty that put his side behind in the game with a clumsy challenge on Rutter. Berge looked good in possession of the ball, always trying to get the ball to the attacking players quickly.

Sasa Lukic - 6

Lukic was solid in the middle of the park in a tough battle, something the Serbian isn’t afraid of.

Harry Wilson - 6

The winger looked a little off the pace as he struggled to get involved with play, touching the ball just 32 times. Wilson’s deep corner led to the equaliser.

Josh King - 8

In what is set to be a breakout season for the 17-year-old, he looked like he was at home at this level. King was the only attacking player who looked like a threat and was constantly fouled by the Brighton players, who couldn’t handle him. His control of the ball and his ability to dribble and bounce off challenges are key to how he plays.

Alex Iwobi - 6

Iwobi was another player who struggled. Because he was missing the overlapping Robinson, he was forced to take on the fullback himself, which he found difficult.

Raul Jimenez - 5.5

The striker had a limited pre-season thanks to his involvement in the Gold Cup, and his lack of fitness showed here as he was bullied by the Brighton defenders.

Substitutes:

Tom Cairney - 6

The captain came on and looked steady, doing a similar job to Berge, whom he replaced.

Adama Traore - 5

Another attacking player looked tired and was unable to beat his man consistently.

Rodrigo Muniz - 7

The Brazilian showed his worth to Fulham with a beautiful touch and finish to save a point at the death. Before his goal, he looked more mobile and fitter than Jimenez as he put himself about well.

Emile Smith Rowe - 6

The club record signing came on late into the game and had a decent impact with his shot getting Fulham the corner from which they would equalise.

Timothy Castagne - 5

He came in late and did what he needed to defensively, but his impact going forward was minimal.
