Luka Doncic injury diagnosis revealed after collision in EuroBasket game

Participating in international offseason tournaments carries a risk for NBA players.

Whether it's the Olympics, the World Cup, or a tournament like EuroBasket this summer, there will always be risks.

Players are very competitive when they're representing their countries and the effort in games is arguably higher than what we see at times in the NBA.

These tournaments typically take place just before the next season ramps up. Being at the wrong place at the wrong time can screw over your entire upcoming NBA season.

Luka Doncic was in action Saturday in a EuroBasket friendly and became the latest victim of an unfortunate injury in an international game.

What is Doncic's injury?

NBA insider Marc Stein reported, "Luka Dončić has been diagnosed with a right knee contusion."

This is good and bad news at the same time for Doncic.

He has gone viral for his offseason body transformation and there was a lot of hype behind him going into next season.

Seeing a moment where a superstar goes down in pain can be scary, as there's a lot of uncertainty the second it happens.

An injury is very unfortunate and inconvenient for Doncic, but hearing that it is just bruising/a contusion is great news.

Stein did note, "the injury [Doncic] sustained today with Slovenia’s national team is not believed to be serious."

The team might choose to be more cautious with Doncic going forward, especially since there are several more exhibition games before the actual tournament.

We should get more details in the coming days about how long Doncic will be out for, but at least for now, we know it isn't a major knee injury that could have kept him out of play much longer.
