Ron Harper Jr. is back within the Celtics organization after spending some time in Boston last season. Per Spotrac’s Keith Smith, Harper signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Celtics, meaning he’ll be with the team for training camp.
Harper, 25, was with the Celtics last season, including playing for them at the 2024 Summer League. He started the year with the Maine Celtics in the G League, but was picked up by the Pistons on a two-way contract. That’s where he spent last season before becoming a free agent again this summer. He played in a career 11 NBA games.
Harper started his career with the Raptors for the first two seasons on two-way deals. He went undrafted out of Rutgers in 2022. The Celtics are full on two-way slots after signing rookies Max Shulga and Amari Williams, along with trading for RJ Luis from the Jazz. But if Harper shows out in his opportunities, a team could look to pick him up like the Pistons did with him last season.
Harper has heavy NBA ties when it comes to his family members. His brother, Dylan, went No. 2 overall to the Spurs in the 2025 draft. His father, Ron, played 15 seasons in the NBA and won five NBA championships. Now, Ron Harper Jr. will look to stick in the league as he’ll get a chance with the Celtics going forward.
