Pep Guardiola said Manchester City need to sell players with their current squad being 'unhealthy'.
On a day where Ederson missed the 4-0 win over Wolves with gastroenteritis, the Blues boss said that there was critical work to be done over the next two weeks in order to keep competition within the squad.
There were few complaints on the pitch at Molineux as the away team cruised to a thumping victory, with Erling Haaland scoring twice and summer signings Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki both finding the scoresheet.
That took the attention away from the pre-match selection, where James Trafford came in for his debut after Ederson fell ill on Friday amid transfer interest from Galatasaray. Guardiola had said that his No.1 would start at Wolves but he was not involved.
City's manager had no information to add on Ederson but did say that City need to trim down their squad in the next two weeks if they want to keep a healthy environment for the season.
"Too much. Too many people, too many players," he said.

"It’s not about Eddy. Today there was Rodri and Phil [Foden] out, Kovacic is injured but will be back and Savinho and Josko are out. On the bench we had Nathan and Gundo.
"I like a deep squad to compete in all competitions but I don’t want to leave players at home. I don't want it. It’s not healthy.
"You cannot create a good vibe or atmosphere to compete. Everyone has to feel they can play and can help and compete with their mate for the opponents. The club has known it since last season so it's not news but the situation is what it is.
"In the next two weeks, people will talk with players and agents to find a solution."
