Tottenham Hotspur Target ‘Has Informed’ Club About ‘Desire’: Spurs ‘Accelerate Move’

The Premier League season kicked off this weekend, and Spurs opened their campaign strongly with a 3-0 victory over newly promoted Burnley. Their attack was flowing well, with Mohammed Kudus assisting Richarlison twice, whilst Brennan Johnson grabbed the third. However, there is still summer business to be conducted. Tottenham Hotspur have now received some good news in their efforts to get Eberechi Eze.

Eberechi Eze Hopes for Move ‘ASAP’

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Eze “has informed” his club, Crystal Palace, of his “desire” to secure his move across the capital. This reportedly happened earlier this week. Eagles fans may be disappointed to be losing a star player for the second summer running, after Michael Olise’s departure a year ago.

Talks are progressing, and Eze has already said yes to the project; the 27-year-old hopes that the move will happen “ASAP”. Tottenham are “confident” that the deal will happen, and are in direct talks regarding the fee currently, though work is still needed. Sami Mokbel reveals that Spurs are set to “accelerate [the] move” in the next 48 hours. He also reports that they are negotiating around an offer slightly below the now-expired £68 million release clause.

New Signing Enables Different Formation

Thomas Frank prefers to play with a 4-2-3-1 formation: he used it at Brentford and has done so in pre-season. However, against Burnley he used a 4-3-3 formation, with his midfielders playing in a flat line. This didn’t seem to cause many issues for Tottenham, though it might against a more established Premier League side.

Bringing in Eze would enable Frank to play with an attacking midfielder, a proper number ten. At the moment, Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison are out injured, with the former on the sidelines until around November, and the latter potentially for the season. A number ten would provide better service for Richarlison or Dominic Solanke up front.
