Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) South Korean midfielder Lee Kang-in is in the news in the transfer market. The 24-year-old has a bright future, but he is not getting regular playing time at PSG. His impressive performance against Tottenham in the European Super Cup caught the attention of many clubs.
Manchester United and Arsenal are the two clubs that have been reportedly keeping an eye on his situation. According to sources from CaughtOffside, Arsenal have also contacted him, and the Red Devils are interested. Lee’s contract with the Parisian club is until 2028, but PSG will not rule out selling him this summer if they get a suitable offer. The player needs more playing time, and Manchester United could be the perfect platform for him.
Is Lee Kang-in the right choice for Manchester United?
Lee Kang-in is an exciting prospect. His technical attributes and creativity can add new life to the midfield and also on the wings. In Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 tactical system, the South Korean can fit in as an attacking midfielder, although he is generally a right-winger. He can increase our creativity by teaming up with Bruno Fernandes, and will increase the depth in that position. Of course, the 24-year-old won’t be starting regularly here as well, but he could be a good backup for the club.
However, the question is, do we need him? Sitting on PSG’s bench is a loss for a talented player like Lee. However, then again, we already have Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo as the attacking midfielders. Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo can also play in that position. So, we don’t think that the 24-year-old will receive decent playing time at Old Trafford. We need a defensive midfielder right now, not another attacking midfielder. So, we really don’t get it why United are interested or linked with him at this moment.
