Former Nebraska DB Omar Brown suffers 'scary' chest injury in Packers preseason game

Former Nebraska football player Omar Brown will stay overnight in Indianapolis after suffering a chest contusion during a Green Bay Packers preseason game Saturday.

Brown, a reserve defensive back, was injured late in the third quarter and was carted off the field while wearing an oxygen mask.

"Kind of a scary deal," Packers coach Matt LaFleur told local reporters. "He'll be staying overnight. He's got a chest contusion."

The injury halted what had been, by all accounts, a strong preseason for Brown. He recorded three interceptions during the Packers’ public scrimmage on Aug. 3.

Brown played at Nebraska in 2022 and 2023 before signing with Green Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2024. He made his NFL debut last season after being elevated from the practice squad and signed a reserve/future contract with the Packers in January.
