The Cleveland Browns quarterback situation is a mess. Following Deshaun Watson’s Achilles injury, the Browns added Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett and drafted two more in Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.
With Gabriel kept out of the first game of the preseason with an injury, Sanders started in his place and impressed, throwing for two touchdowns in the contest. An injury kept Sanders out of the second preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Gabriel got the start this time and had an up-and-down affair, going 14 of 18 throwing, but with two turnovers, including a pick-six. However, it appears that Gabriel thought his performance was more than enough to impress his coaches, and didn’t pass on the chance to take a not-so-subtle shot at Sanders for his bombastic personality in his post-game interview.
“There’s entertainers and there’s competitors and I understand that but my job is to compete,” Gabriel said after the game.
Fans reacted to the comments after the game.
“He’s throwing shots at Shedeur while playing worse this week than Shedeur did last week. Definitely a choice,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“He knows he’s not better so he had to say something,” someone else added.
“Lowkey secret animosity with Sheduer wow,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Sanders responds.
