PITTSBURGH --Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Ben Skowronek is not dressed for the team’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will not play.
It is unknown what the injury Skowronek suffered is, and while guaranteed a roster spot, the severity of injury is also unknown. SKowronek did not a sling, boot, or any visible medical equipment on his body that would point to an injury.
Skowronek was a key special teamer and versatile player for the Steelers on offense last season. He was signed to the practice squad after being released by the Houston Texans.
Skowronek missed time with shoulder and hip injuries, but became an integral part of their special teams units as a gunner. He played as a wing, wide receiver, fullback, and even an H-back at times in the offense. That allowed Skowronek’s role to take shape.
He was selected by the Rams out of Notre Dame, where he was teammates with formerSteelerswide receiver Miles Boykin. Skowronek won the Super Bowl with the Rams in 2021, and has just over 500 receiving yards in his NFL career.
