Pittsburgh Steelers fan favorite long snapper suffers chest injury

PITTSBURGH --Pittsburgh Steelers long snapper Christian Kuntz left Saturday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a chest injury and will not return. Defensive lineman Logan Lee will be the long snapper for the rest of the game. The Steelers released backup long snapper Tucker Addington last week.

Kuntz made a tackle on a punt return, laying out to make the play. After that, he came off the field grabbing his chest and was attended to by trainers. The Steelers took his shoulder pads and helmet and he went to the locker room.

It is unknown how serious Kuntz’s injury is, but he was the second Steelers player to leave the game and be ruled out. Outside linebacker Nick Herbig was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

The Steelers will likely sign a long snapper if Kuntz can not practice with the injury. A Duquesne University graduate, Kuntz played outside linebacker before switching to long snapper in the NFL. A Pittsburgh native, he played at Chartiers Valley High School.
