Cardinals rookie Hayden Conner out vs. Broncos with knee injury

Arizona Cardinals rookie offensive lineman Hayden Conner left Saturday’s game against the Denver Broncos with a knee injury.

He will not return, the team announced.

After getting some late run at center last week, Conner got the starting nod for Week 2 of the preseason.

Three plays into Arizona’s opening drive, the rookie went down with the knee issue.

He was limping on the field before going down and being checked out by trainers. Conner left the game under his own power.

Conner has shown steady growth since getting looks at center this training camp.

After a rough July 28 practice that included three botched snaps, Conner has taken steps forward. He proved that during last week’s win over Kansas City.

Adding center to his toolbelt allows Conner to play across all three interior spots.

Who stepped in for Hayden Conner in Cardinals-Broncos?

With Conner sidelined, Sincere Haynesworth filled in at center.

Jon Gaines II and Nick Leverett got the starting nods at left and right guard, respectively.
