Predicting the score for Everton vs Leeds United as the Premier League gets underway

Everton take on Leeds United at Elland Road in the Premier League opener on Monday night.

David Moyes has managed to get Jack Grealish through the door at Finch Farm ahead of the game, which addresses a really big void on the flank.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is also expected to start in midfield after completing a £28m transfer from Chelsea.

So Everton’s squad is in much better shape than it was only a few weeks ago, with pre-season highlighting how badly they needed to strengthen.

With all that said, the site’s writers have predicted the score when they take on Leeds in a matter of days.

Everton vs Leeds United score predictions

Harry Dimond – Leeds United 1-1 Everton

“Going to be a close affair with David Moyes having the chance to experiment with his six new additions against an opposition battling for survival.

“It wasn’t a promising pre-season from an attacking point of view, and adding in the fact both Jarrad Branthwaite and Vitaliy Mykolenko are injured, it will be a very difficult game to keep the goals out – not even mentioning Elland Road’s unwelcoming atmosphere upon their Premier League return.

“I’ll say 1-1, purely for the fact the Toffees are missing numbers at the back, but expect a bright showing from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and some positives to take.”

Brogan Clasper – Leeds United 0-2 Everton

“Everyone knows what to expect from an away trip to Elland Road, and the opening game of the season will only add to the atmosphere. If the Blues can get through the opening stages of the game, Everton should have too much quality for Leeds to deal with.

“All eyes will be on Jack Grealish, but it will be interesting to see who is given the nod up top. A debut for Thierno Barry would be a real vote of confidence, and he would certainly get the full Premier League experience if he is to start.

“A draw away from home is never a bad result in the Premier League, but Everton will want to be taking all six points off the newly-promoted sides this season.”

Mark Marston – Leeds United 0-2 Everton

“Everton’s last two signings in the shape of Dewsbury-Hall and Grealish have been real needle-movers, and I actually think both could register their first goal involvement for the club here.

“Thierno Barry could also have some joy as he’ll likely be up against Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk, so he could pin himself on the latter, who is far less physical.

“That’s because Leeds’ centre-back powerhouse Jaka Bijol, who arrived in a big-money move from Udinese, is serving a suspension.

“Dominic Calvert-Lewin could face his former club as he’s on the verge of joining the West Yorkshire outfit, so Moyes will be well aware of his strengths.

“They’ll have to contain his aerial threat to ensure a first clean sheet of the season in a 2-0 win.”
