Sunderland, playing their first Premier League game in eight years, beat West Ham United 3-0 at the Stadium of Light. Eliezer Mayenda opened the scoring in the 61st minute with a fine header before play-off hero Dan Ballard doubled the lead. After that, substitute Wilson Isidor wrapped it up in stoppage time to win in style.

Tottenham off to a flying start

Thomas Frank, who recently replaced Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur, started things off on a positive note as they registered a comfortable 3-0 win over Burnley. Richarlison struck twice, first in the 10th minute from a Mohammed Kudus cross, and then in the 60th minute from another Kudus delivery. Brennan Johnson scored the third and final goal six minutes later.

Manchester City crush Wolves

Manchester City began their Premier League season in style with a 4-0 away win against Wolves. Summer signing Tijjani Reijnders scored on his debut, while fellow newcomer Rayan Cherki added another goal. Erling Haaland showed his class with two goals of his own as City climbed to the top of the table thanks to superior goal difference.
