Andre Onana has been put on notice by Ruben Amorim that his position as Manchester United's starting goalkeeper is far from secure.
The Cameroonian shot-stopper, who completed a £47.2million switch from Inter Milan in 2023, endured a torrid season at Old Trafford. United were prepared to offload him for £35m if a suitable buyer had emerged. That interest didn't arrive.
United have shelved their search for a replacement goalkeeper - and the 29-year-old will feature between the sticks for United's season opener against Arsenal following his recovery from a hamstring problem.
However, ahead of Sunday's clash, Amorim declared: "Andre is like the other players. They all have to win their place, so I'm not going to say if one player is No. 1.
"He's ready to go to the game, so let's wait. Me as a coach and the players can do better than last year - and I have full confidence in that."

Onana has shipped an alarming 148 goals during his two campaigns in Manchester. Across 72 Premier League outings, he has been breached 102 times.
Amorim reportedly had been hoping United's hierarchy would approve the signing of a new goalkeeper this summer.
He benched Onana during a shaky period in April, which reached its nadir with a disastrous display in the Europa League stalemate at Lyon.

Nevertheless, it was determined that other positions in Amorim's squad required attention first, particularly his attack after just 44 Premier League goals last term.
United have splashed £210m to sign Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo, completing an aggressive attacking overhaul that should spark improvement.
Turkey international Altay Bayindir has likewise struggled to make his mark, leading United to offer 39-year-old stalwart Tom Heaton a fresh one-year deal.
