Lucas Paqueta is linked with a West Ham exit in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Newcastle are keen on the Brazil international, who has been cleared of all previous allegations of spot fixing.
Paqueta is the top earner at West Ham and the Irons now face a battle to retain his services over the next two weeks.

Paqueta makes promise of great season
West Ham’s season began with a 3-0 loss to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
After a dismal 2024/25 campaign, the expectations were for the Hammers to start this one strongly.

However, they failed to capitalise on their chances against Regis Le Bris’ side and came away from the game empty-handed.
This saw Paqueta take to Instagram to assure the Hammers fans that the team are together and promised that it will be a great season.
He wrote: “Together as a team. It’s just the beginning and I know we’re going to have a great season.”
West Ham may find it hard to keep Paqueta
If Newcastle demonstrate serious interest in Paqueta and meet the Hammers’ valuation, the Brazilian midfielder might be tempted to leave due to Newcastle’s participation in the Champions League, offering a platform to showcase his talents on Europe’s biggest stage.
West Ham, despite their strong Premier League standing, are not in European competition this season, which could sway Paqueta, especially given his ambition and previous links to top clubs like Manchester City.

A substantial transfer fee would also test the Irons’ resolve, as it could fund squad reinvestment.
However, Paqueta’s apparent lack of desire to push for an exit is a significant positive for the London club.
His contentment, evidenced by his focus on consistent performances and no public agitation for a move, suggests loyalty to the Hammers, giving the club hope of retaining their star playmaker despite Newcastle’s alluring Champions League prospect.
