Leeds United transfer target Injured – Manager issues verdict

Leeds United are set to open their Premier League campaign on Monday night when they host Everton at Elland Road. However, the club are working hard behind the scenes to further strengthen the squad and provide more options to Daniel Farke.

The Whites confirmed the arrival of Dominic Calvert-Lewin on Friday. The former Everton striker has joined the club on a free transfer following talks with several clubs in England and abroad. However, Farke has insisted that he cannot be the last addition to their attack this summer.

The Leeds boss wants to sign one more striker, apart from the club’s pursuit of a winger and a versatile attacking midfielder, before the end of the transfer window. However, Leeds are also in the market for a full-back.

Isaac Schmidt wants to leave Leeds and has an agreement in place to join Werder Bremen on loan. However, Farke will only sanction a deal once Leeds secure a replacement for him.

Leeds United transfer target James Justin has picked up a knock

Leeds are in talks with Leicester to sign James Justin this summer, and an agreement for his transfer to Elland Road is expected to be close.

However, the defender picked up an injury on Saturday in Leicester’s 2-1 defeat at Preston and was substituted after 77 minutes.

The Whites are holding their breath over the 27-year-old’s injury status, and Leicester boss Martin Cifuentes has provided some sort of update.

The Leicester boss is still not sure about how serious the injury is as the club are still assessing him, but he is hopeful that it is not a huge blow.

“JJ unfortunately got a kick on the leg”, Cifuentes was quoted as saying by the Leicester Mercury.

“The medical team is assessing. I don’t know exactly what the outcome is. Hopefully it’s not an injury, or a big injury at least.”

Leeds will keep their fingers crossed

Justin has emerged as the top target for Leeds this summer. He has Premier League experience, can play in both full-back areas and is available for a reasonable fee of £6m.

The defender is also keen on a move to Elland Road as he wants to play in the Premier League again after suffering relegation with Leicester last season.

A serious injury threatens to derail Leeds’ transfer plans and may leave the club with little choice but to keep Schmidt beyond the September 1 deadline.

Leeds believe signing Justin is a great market opportunity, and missing out on him due to an injury would be a real disappointment.
