There is just over a fortnight to go for Leeds United to conclude their transfer business. Leeds Live understands the Premier League club are are working on a deal to sign Leicester City defender James Justin.
United are in advanced talks with the Foxes to sign the full-back, who has just one year remaining on his contract at the King Power Stadium. The 27-year-old is primarily a right-back but can also be deployed at centre-back or at left-back if required.
It is widely expected United will allow Isaac Schmidt to leave and join Werder Bremen on loan as soon as a new full-back comes in. It is a department of the team Daniel Farke wants to bolster before the transfer window closes at 7pm on September 1.
Attacking full-back Jayden Bogle is a big injury doubt for Monday's showdown with Everton. Should Bogle be ruled out, it leaves Farke with just Schmidt and Sam Byram as his recognised options on the right side of the back four.
Premier League winner Micah Richards is a big admirer of Justin. Speaking on Sky Sports back in 2021, the former Manchester City defender said: “He [Justin] has been absolutely brilliant.
“I think he’s been one of the best full-backs in the league this season. He’s got absolutely everything, he can play left-back, he can read the game, he can go forward, he can defend and for just 22 years of age. He can run, he’s an athlete, isn’t he?
“The thing I like about him, when he gets in the (attacking) positions, a lot of full-backs rush their pass, but he has patience when he gets in there, he’s got composure, he can see a pass."
