Viktor Gyokeres has already beaten Bukayo Saka in one key training drill at Arsenal - video

Despite scoring 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting CP, there still seems to be the feeling that Viktor Gyokeres needs to prove himself at Arsenal.

With no prior experience of playing in the Premier League, Viktor Gyokeres already has his doubters at Arsenal, before he’s even kicking a ball in a competitive match.

For example, Robbie Fowler has questioned how many goals Gyokeres will score – he’s convinced that Joao Pedro will outdo his tally in a Chelsea shirt.

But TBR Football have previously revealed that Arsenal have been delighted by Gyokeres in training – Mikel Arteta and his coaching staff are not underwhelmed in the slightest by their new Swedish number nine.

And judging by training footage just released by Arsenal, Gyokeres has convinced one or two more key figures at the club about his rich talent.

Viktor Gyokeres impresses Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke in Arsenal training

In the lead up to Arsenal’s clash with Manchester United, Arteta’s side shared some ‘Inside Training’ footage, which did have a heavy focus on Gyokeres.

It was interesting to see the likes of Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson also looking sharp behind the scenes – two players Arsenal are ready to sell before the end of the transfer window.

But it was a shooting drill between Gyokeres, Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke at the end of the session which really caught the eye.

In a flurry of sharp finishes, Gyokeres appeared to win a finishing drill between the trio, who were all taking shots one-on-one, and both Saka and Madueke seemed very impressed.

At the end of the contest, Gyokeres walked over to his new teammates and said, “three in a row”, before then shaking the pair’s hands.

And Arsenal fans will surely be delighted to see their new striker fitting in so well at London Colney.

Mikel Arteta has a new front three emerging at Arsenal

Interestingly, the trio mentioned might actually end up becoming Arteta’s strongest front three once the new season is fully underway.

Jurrien Timber has been impressed by Gyokeres at Arsenal so far, and the Swede should soon have a permanent starting spot alongside Saka.

But on the left, things are a little less certain.

Gabriel Martinelli was linked with an Arsenal exit this summer, and whilst the Brazilian now looks set to stay, he might not be an automatic starter.

So far in his career, Madueke has mainly played as a right winger for Chelsea and PSV Eindhoven.

But on early evidence, it seems as if Madueke might switch positions at Arsenal and play on the left, a move which could actually help Gyokeres score goals in north London.

And judging by the training footage mentioned, Madueke, Gyokeres and Saka already seem to have a lot of positive chemistry as a trio.
