'If we have a': Winger publicly addresses future after Everton have £31m bid rejected

An Everton target has just come out and lifted the lid on his future after being subjected to a bid from David Moyes.

Moyes is desperate to sign a winger as Everton remain short in that area of the pitch following Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison’s departures.

The Toffees have explored a deal to sign Tyler Dibling from Southampton, but there is a gap in valuation between the two clubs at the moment.

Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo is also on Moyes’ radar, but there has been little noise surrounding that rumour of late.

Now, another winger target has just publicly addressed his future following a bid from Everton.

Everton target Malick Fofana speaks out on future

Everton have submitted a £31m bid for Malick Fofana this summer, however, Lyon swiftly rejected the offer.

The jet-heeled wide player is valued closer to the £40m mark, so the Toffees will have to return with an improved bid if they’re to strike a deal.

After Lyon’s 1-0 victory against Lens yesterday, Fofana was asked about his future and did admit he’s open to leaving.

“If I stay at OL? Trick question. In football, anything can happen,” the Belgium international explained.

“If I stay, it will be by being happy to stay at Lyon. That’s it, we’ll see. It’s not that I want to leave, but if we have a good opportunity, we’ll see.”

Everton more focused on Tyler Dibling

Whilst the Toffees do retain an interest in Fofana, Moyes and his chiefs appear to be more focused on Dibling.

Southampton have sent a counter-offer to Everton, which can be accepted at any time and it would instantly activate an agreement.

It’s not known exactly how much Saints have offered, however, it’s believed to be less than their initial £50m asking price.

Dibling wants to join Everton, so clearly the Championship promotion hopefuls are under pressure to find a resolution.

A telling couple of weeks await.
