‘Love this…’: Harry Maguire and Man United hero praise Brandon Williams after Hull City move, he has revived his career

Following Brandon Williams’ return to football with Hull City, he has been heaped with support by two Man United stars, including former Tiger Harry Maguire.

Hull City have signed free agent Brandon Williams as the Tigers continue to bolster their options, despite an ongoing transfer fee restriction prohibiting the club’s dealings this summer.

Williams underwent a successful trial at Hull City, where he featured in pre-season for Sergej Jakirovic’s side.

The former Man United defender’s return to football has been highly anticipated after he spent the entirety of the 2024/25 season without a club, following his Ipswich Town departure after their promotion to the Premier League.

After Hull took a chance on Williams, the ex-Red Devil has received masses of praise from former teammates.

Hull City signing Brandon Williams receives support from Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes

Hull City have announced the signing of Brandon Williams on social media, with the caption describing the defender as ‘the comeback kid’.

After the well-deserved return to football at a top level, Man United and England star and former Hull City hero Harry Maguire wrote a message of support to Williams in the comments: “Love this. All the best mate.”

He was not the only Man United player to write to Williams, after Bruno Fernandes said: “Buzzing for you kid.”

Williams played on 51 occasions for Man United, where he notably shone in Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side.

The Tigers have done brilliantly to recruit under testing conditions

Whilst Hull City are still awaiting a decision from the EFL as to whether the recent hearing will result in an easing of their current restrictions, they have still had to act under the transfer fee embargo.

Many Tigers fans were understandably fearing the worst when the restriction was placed on the club, but their business has been better than last season by a landslide.

The restriction has meant that Hull City Head of Recruitment, Jared Dublin, has had to be very shrewd with his dealings, and the deal to bring in Williams is a prime example of that.

Hull City could be underdogs this season in the Championship, as whilst many on the outside believe that they have been significantly hampered by the restriction, it has led them towards many smart acquisitions.
