‘Final push to accelerate’ – Club providing assist to get player to Aston Villa

Aston Villa have their eyes set on Barcelona’s Héctor Fort for this summer.

On Friday, Marca and Mundo Deportivo both reported that Aston Villa have made contact to sign the right-back.

Mundo even explained Aston Villa could be an attractive option for the 19-year-old, also because of Unai Emery.

Earlier today, Sport reported Aston Villa have burst in with force to sign the fullback and his agent, who also represents Emery, can facilitate to unblock the deal. They also stated the manager and Villans director Monchi both value him.

A fresh report from Sport provides Barcelona’s latest stance on Fort and this will come as a boost for Emery’s side.

Hansi Flick and Barca directors feel the right-back position is well covered and their plan is to let him leave in this window.

According to the newspaper, Fort and his entourage have been aware of the Catalan club’s stance for weeks. Flick gave the player the ‘final push to accelerate’ his exit by dropping him from the squad to face RCD Mallorca for technical reasons.

Sport reports Barcelona could have registered the youngster as a reserve team player but decided against this as they want to get rid of him.

The La Liga winners are prioritising to sell the Aston Villa target for €5m, but everything indicates he could leave on loan. Mallorca have shown interest but need to first sell to make an approach and Paris FC are yet to push for him.

Fort’s situation at the Camp Nou certainly favours Aston Villa, and whether they’ll make a decisive move remains to be seen.
