Brighton forward Julio Enciso has given Palmeiras the answer they were waiting for, and it’s a positive one.
Brazilian insider Paulo Massini reported that the 21-year-old has authorised his representatives to move ahead with the final details of a transfer. Palmeiras have already tabled an offer of €14m plus €4m in bonuses, as we previously covered.
Adding to that, local journalist Paulo Vinícius Coelho has noted that the high financial cost could still complicate a deal, but with the player now on board, Palmeiras’ chances of landing him look stronger than ever.
Enciso, currently recovering from injury, is due back in England this weekend and will meet with his entourage as well as Palmeiras officials, who are already in London to negotiate directly with Brighton.
The forward is under contract at the Amex until June 2026, but is not expected to be part of the Seagulls’ plans for the new season.
According to the report, Palmeiras president Leila Pereira is following the talks closely. While careful in her public comments, she admits the club is active in the market and willing to advance only if all parties benefit.
Any European competition for Enciso has also eased. Roma, who were reportedly showing interest, have stepped away, leaving Palmeiras negotiating without a direct rival in the race.
