The shocking Premier League table since West Ham appointed Graham Potter

Since West Ham appointed Graham Potter in January 2025, only Manchester United and Tottenham have picked up fewer points in the Premier League.

After parting company with David Moyes in 2024, West Ham appointed Julen Lopetegui and backed him heavily in the transfer market.

However, it quickly became apparent that Lopetegui wasn’t the right man for the job and he was dismissed at the start of January, with West Ham sat 14th in the Premier League.

Potter was the man to replace him and things started out fairly well for the former Chelsea boss as he beat Fulham 3-2 in his first game in charge.

Unfortunately for West Ham fans, things haven’t really taken off under Potter from that point onward.

In the Premier League, Potter has won just five of his 19 matches in charge of the Hammers.

Their latest game was a heavy 3-0 defeat against newly-promoted Sunderland, with Potter’s team visibly wilting during the second half.

“The result is obviously bad for us, and the second half was really disappointing,” the Head Coach said after losing at the Stadium of Light.

“In the first half, I thought we were good. I thought we did lots well in terms of quieting the crowd down and creating some opportunities. We could have scored, I thought, but nevertheless, we felt OK.

“We started a bit slow in the second half, and from out of nowhere, a goal goes in and it becomes difficult. It was a game where probably the first goal, especially here with the environment, was going to be challenging for us. But we tried to push.

“But in trying to push, we opened ourselves up. The second goal’s a poor one – a mistake leads to a cheap set-piece, and then we didn’t do the basics well enough in the second phase.

“We haven’t done the basics well enough – it’s as simple as that, and we have to improve that.”

To illustrate just how poor West Ham have been in recent months, here is the Premier League table since they hired Potter back in January.
