Leeds United’s transfer window has been the subject of many different sagas and interesting chapters this summer, whether it be Patrick Bamford, Igor Paixao or even Rodrigo Muniz.
Illan Meslier has been relegated to third or even fourth choice and Lucas Perri has taken his no.1 shirt. Isaac Schmidt is waiting to go on loan and his replacement James Justin has now picked up an injury.
But perhaps, one of the most intriguing sagas of the summer has been the future of Mateo Joseph. The first page of Joseph’s situation this summer is probably the fact he only managed to score three last term.
In Germany, Daniel Farke said Joseph wanted to leave Leeds, and Farke even said Joseph didn’t want to go to Germany. A sheepish-looking Joseph appeared in the tunnel at Elland Road against Villarreal.
At one point, there was some danger that a move would not materialise for Joseph amid links with Real Betis, Celta Vigo and Girona. But eventually, Real Mallorca came calling and signed the striker on loan.

Mateo Joseph says if he could play for Leeds again after Mallorca
This weekend, Joseph gave an interview to The Athletic. Joseph disagrees with Farke’s version of events, claiming Farke allowed him not to go to Germany and claimed Farke told him he wasn’t counting on him.
Now, Joseph is on loan at La Liga side Mallorca without a permanent option. LeedsUnited.News has been told that Leeds had agreed to sell Joseph for £10m with the striker himself, if such a bid arrived for him.
He told The Athletic that he feels there is still a chance he could return to Leeds and play for The Whites again, if things change. Joseph is scheduled to return to Leeds at the end of the season, as things stand.

“I’m one of those people who say never say never. Football takes many twists and turns. If circumstances change, anything is possible. But right now, my mind isn’t there, it’s here (in Mallorca),” Joseph admitted.
“There’s still a long year ahead, and when it’s over, we’ll assess the situation. But I’m very happy here and I’m sure I’ll be able to enjoy football, which is what I want right now,” the on-loan Leeds striker continued.

Mateo Joseph makes Mallorca debut but it doesn’t go to plan
Joseph made his debut for Mallorca competitively on Saturday night, with Mallorca facing a very tough start to their La Liga campaign. An opener against Barcelona, Celta Vigo and then facing Real Madrid.
The on-loan Leeds ace was among the substitutes as Raphinha opened the scoring, before Ferran Torres made it two. Then, before half-time, Mallorca were reduced to a dismal nine men. A foregone conclusion.
Joseph was introduced after the break, tasked with doing the running of two strikers. Barca scored a third without ever getting out of third gear, but Vedat Muriqi’s red will give Joseph hope of a start next time.
