Mohamed Salah has once again rewritten the Premier League record books, and this time, the numbers speak louder than the noise around him.
The Liverpool forward has now scored more non-penalty goals than Thierry Henry, pushing aside the long-running jibe that he is nothing more than a “penalty merchant.”
The Egyptian star’s strike in the Reds’ opening-day 4-2 win over Bournemouth was historic for more than one reason.
Not only did it give Salah his 10th goal on Premier League opening weekends — a feat no player has achieved before — but it also lifted him above Henry in the all-time chart for goals scored from open play.
At 33, with speculation about a possible Saudi switch swirling, Salah continues to show that his boots are still laced with goals. Apparently, age really is just a number when you’re still outrunning defenders half your age.

Salah now sits on 153 non-penalty goals in the Premier League, edging past Henry’s 152. This record comes after years of taunts from rivals who claimed his tally was inflated by spot-kicks.
Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster once poked fun at him by calling him a “penalty merchant” on his YouTube channel, but Salah’s consistency proves otherwise.
The forward has produced 187 Premier League goals in total, 89 assists, and has featured in 289 games.
His output is not only about goals but also about creativity, which keeps him in the same conversation as the legends he has overtaken.
The Arsenal icon may still hold the edge with more Golden Boots, but Salah’s numbers suggest he belongs in that very bracket of greatness.
And with Liverpool under new boss Arne Slot, there may still be more records to tumble.
