Ruben Amorim makes shocking Rasmus Hojlund decision ahead of Arsenal game as future decided

It's the first major call of the 2025/26 season by Amorim.

Ruben Amorim has decided to leave Rasmus Hojlund out of Manchester United's squad to take on Arsenal in a further indication that his Old Trafford career is over.

Hojlund was facing a battle to be named in the starting XI after the arrival of striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

The Dane scored just four Premier League goals last season and has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

He was an unused substitute in United's final pre-season friendly fixture against Fiorentina.

But he will not even be involved among United's bench when they take on Arsenal at Old Trafford in what is a significant decision by Amorim.

According to The Athletic, Hojlund has been personally told that he faces 'a challenge to get minutes' this season amid being left out of the squad.

In his pre-match press conference, Amorim remained non-committal on whether the Dane would be involved at Old Trafford on Sunday.

It now appears increasingly likely that Hojlund has played his last game for United.

The 22-year-old has attracted loan interest from AC Milan, though Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth revealed on Friday that Borussia Dortmund are monitoring the situation.

Talks with Serie A giants Milan will likely centre around a loan deal with a future option to buy, it is claimed.
