“We’ll See”–£52M Rated Ligue One Star Issues Transfer Update Amid Links To Liverpool And Several Other PL Clubs

Liverpool transfer target Malick Fofana has refused to confirm whether he will stay at Lyon beyond the end of the transfer window.

The Reds are one of several Premier League clubs who have been linked with the Belgian international this summer, and asked to shed some light on his future plans, Fofana replied:

“If I stay at OL? Trick question. In football, anything can happen. If I stay, it will be by being happy to stay at Lyon. That’s it, we’ll see. It’s not that I want to leave, but if we have a good opportunity, we’ll see.”

Lyon are said to be holding out for around €60m (£52m) for the 20-year-old so a lot may depend on whether any club is willing to pay that much for him.

Which Premier League teams are pursuing Fofana?

Both Everton and Nottingham Forest are said to have made formal bids for the winger but it is believed neither destination really appealed to him.

Chelsea and Manchester United have also been mentioned as potential suitors, while Liverpool have reportedly held discussions with Fofana’s agents.

Liverpool may only sign one forward before the window closes

At the moment, a lot hinges on whether Newcastle decide to sell Alexander Isak. If the Swedish international does end up making the switch to Anfield in the next couple of weeks, attempts to sign other forwards would be put on hold.

Alternatively, if Isak remains at St James’ Park, it would increase the chances of the Reds signing someone like Fofana or maybe even Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

After selling Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich, many feel that Cody Gakpo needs more competition, so recruiting a player for the left wing would make a good deal of sense.
