The Green Bay Packers rebounded from their forgettable loss in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL preseason to the New York Jets at home with a23-19 victoryover the Indianapolis Colts on the road on Saturday. The Packers also finally saw running back MarShawn Lloyd see action after he missed the Jets gamebecause of a non-contact groin injury he suffered in training camp.
Lloyd rushed for just 15 yards on six carries against the Colts, but he turned plenty of heads when he turned one of his four targets into a 33-yard catch in the second quarter at Lucas Oil Stadium before getting tackled. It looked as though Lloyd got hurt in that play, withTom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporting that the hit caused one of Lloyd’s legs “to bend awkwardly.”
Following the game, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur offered a brief take on Lloyd when asked if the former USC Trojans star running back was okay. “We’ll see,” LaFleur shared.
Can Green Bay Packers’ Lloyd stay healthy in 2025?

Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (32) and Indianapolis Colts cornerback Chris Lammons (38) miss a long pass on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, during a game against the Green Bay Packers at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The 24-year-old Lloyd is hoping to have a breakout season of sorts in 2025 following his 2024 NFL rookie campaign, in which he only played a game. He was held back by lower-body injuries and also dealt with appendicitis.
Lloyd started the training camp healthy, but hurt his groin and missed practices before finally being able to take the field in the meeting with the Colts. Green Bay has a clear top option in the backfield in running back Josh Jacobs, but Lloyd, when healthy, is expected to put up quality work as a backup for the Packers, who won 11 games in 2024.
