German giants'optimistic'of completing Nkunku transfer

Bayern Munich have reportedly held positive talks over a move for Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.

The Frenchman scored 15 goals and provided five assists in 48 competitive appearances last term, but he only made nine starts in 27 Premier League matches for Enzo Maresca's side.

Nkunku has slipped further down the order following the summer arrivals of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Estevao and Jamie Gittens.

As a result, Nkunku and Chelsea are both looking to part ways before the end of the summer transfer window.

Bayern confident of Nkunku deal

Nkunku's former club, RB Leipzig, have been mentioned as a potential suitor, but they appear to be behind Bayern in the race for his services.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Bayern are 'optimistic' of striking an agreement to sign the Chelsea forward this summer.

The update suggests that the two clubs have held 'positive talks' over the weekend, although they are still working out the details of the deal.

From Nkunku's perspective, he has made it clear to all parties that he wants to complete a move to Vincent Kompany's side.

How much are Chelsea demanding for Nkunku?

Chelsea are in a relatively strong negotiating position, with Nkunku under contract with the West London club until the summer of 2029.

However, they are keen to offload Nkunku as soon as possible, so they can look to finalise a transfer for Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons.

As a result, the Blues are believed to be willing to drop their valuation from the £40m they were asking for at the start of the summer.

With that said, it is unclear how much Chelsea are demanding in transfer negotiations with Bayern.
