Manchester City whizkid considering future, Premier League high-flyers face Aston Villa,…

Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly accompany Nottingham Forest in the battle to sign 20-year-old English international Rico Lewis from Manchester City this summer.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Rico Lewis is the subject of interest from Nottingham Forest. The emerging links have compelled to the Manchester City whizkid to consider his future at the Etihad. Meanwhile, the Premier League high-flyers face stiff competition from Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, among others, for the Englishman’s services in the summer transfer window.

Rico Lewis and his career so far

Rico Lewis has established himself as one of the most promising prospects in the Premier League since breaking into the first-team squad at Manchester City. A native of Bury, the English full-back prospect spent his formative years with the Premier League giants before making his senior bow at the onset of the 2022/23 season.

Since then, the 20-year-old has made considerable progress, turning out nearly 100 times thus far for Manchester City while chipping in with five goals and ten assists. However, Lewis faces an uncertain future at the Etihad amid his emerging links with Nottingham Forest. However, the Tricky Trees face stiff competition from Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur for the youngster’s signature in the summer transfer window.

A man in demand

Nottingham Forest recently failed with a bid to sign Lewis, with Manchester City demanding a higher fee. The high-flying Premier League club’s interest in the Englishman is understandable, as he can initially share game time with Ola Aina before becoming the undisputed first-choice right-back for the Tricky Trees. So, the highly-rated full-back is a viable target for Nottingham Forest.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s interest in Rico Lewis makes sense. Widespread reports have linked Andres Garcia with a summer move away from the West Midlands club, with the Spaniard failing to make his mark at Villa Park. So, the youngster is an option worth considering for Aston Villa.

However, it is unclear why the 20-year-old Englishman is a target for Tottenham. Pedro Porro is the undisputed first-choice right-back for the North London club, and Djed Spence has turned a corner at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. So, the Lilywhites do not need a new right-back. Nevertheless, Lewis is a target, with the player reportedly considering his future at Manchester City.

Apart from the three Premier League high-flyers, Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton are also keen on Lewis, with the latter holding a long-standing interest in him. With Lewis considering his future at Manchester City, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.
