Just a few weeks out from the start of the regular season, there have been new developments on the Terry McLaurin front. Amid the team's latest roster move, one player is excited about the idea of a possible return.
As most know, McLaurin has been holding out from the Commanders in search of a new deal. He opted not to partake in minicamp and was absent the first four days of training camp. When he McLaurin did make his arrival, he was put on the Physically Unable to Perform list due to an ankle injury.
With minimal updates regarding his health, it was unclear what McLaurin's status would be like Week 1. The reality of him being on the field slightly grew Saturday when the team announced that he's been moved off the PUP list.
Commanders lineman gives his thoughts on potential Terry McLaurin return
As of now, it remains unclear what this update truly means for McLaurin's future in Washington. He and the front office are still apart in extension talks, leaving no end in sight to this ongoing saga. That said, him being off the PUP list opens the door to him playing out the season while still trying to work out a deal.
Following practice on Saturday, Commanders lineman Tyler Biadasz was asked his thoughts on McLaurin. He, among many others on the roster, is elated at the thought of the star receiver being back in the fold.
"I can't say enough great things," center Tyler Biadasz said, per ESPN. "Hopefully he comes back on the field and we get him back. We're always excited for it."
Head coach Dan Quinn didn't say much about what this move means for McLaurin, but did make some positive remarks regarding his health moving forward.
"He's on the same trajectory as everybody else, [receiving treatments] doing workouts and making good strides," Quinn said.
It goes without saying what a boost having McLaurin would be for the Commanders, even if he remains disgruntled with his contract situation. He is an integral part of the offense and quarterback Jayden Daniels' top target. If the former No. 2 pick is going to build off his impressive rookie campaign, he'll need Washington's new receiver duo at his disposal.
With the regular season looming, the Commanders are running out of time before this ordeal hangs over them as they attempt to remain contenders in the NFC.
