Matheus Cunha's wife offered her support ahead of his Manchester United debut as the forward was handed an Old Trafford bow against Arsenal. The Brazilian was handed a start in their Premier League opener against the North London club alongside fellow summer arrival Bryan Mbeumo.
Benjamin Sesko, who completed his blockbuster move from RB Leipzig last week, was named among the substitutes with Ruben Amorim eyeing a winning start ahead of an important campaign for United. Arsenal would be looking for a positive start of their own with their title rivals, Liverpool and Manchester City, picking up wins against Bournemouth and Wolves, respectively.
United's opener was the encounter of the weekend, but it posed a huge opportunity for the Portuguese tactician's side to lay down an early marker and build on the foundations.
After team news was confirmed, Cunha's partner, Gabriela, sent him a message of support via her Instagram profile.
She wrote: "May God bless you on this new journey."

Cunha made the cross-Premier League move following the conclusion of last season after United triggered his release clause to bring him from Wolves. After completing his move, the 26-year-old described his move to the Theatre of Dreams as a 'dream'.
He said: “It is hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player.
"Ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother’s house, United was my favourite English team and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt.
"I want to thank my family and everyone who has helped me make that dream a reality.
“I can’t wait for the start of pre-season to get to know my team-mates and prepare for the season ahead. All my focus is now on working hard to become a valuable part of the team, and helping get this club back to the top.”
