The Alexander Isak Liverpool transfer saga has taken another dramatic twist, with Newcastle United ready to sanction their star striker with a club-record fine.
The Swedish forward continues to push for a move away from St. James’ Park, missing both pre-season and the Premier League opener against Aston Villa.
Newcastle were left frustrated in their goalless draw at Villa Park, dominating much of the contest but lacking the cutting edge that Isak usually provides.
Supporters know that with their talisman on the pitch, the Magpies would likely have left with all three points.
Instead, their marquee striker’s absence only highlighted how disruptive the saga has become.

Why Newcastle are prepared to fine Alexander Isak amid Liverpool interest
Reports confirm that Isak has effectively gone on strike, refusing to play as he pushes for a move away.
Liverpool already tested Newcastle’s resolve earlier this month with a £110m bid, but the offer was swiftly rejected.
Even so, many believe the Reds could return before the window closes if the Magpies decide they cannot hold onto their striker.
Following the Villa clash, journalist Craig Hope revealed that Newcastle are set to impose a record-breaking fine on Isak.
“Two points lost for NUFC. No other way to dress it up… with Isak, they win,” he posted on X, before suggesting the punishment still won’t feel like enough given the stakes in the title race.

The club-record fine set to come his way won't feel like nearly enough given the value of a PL win.

With just over two weeks left in the transfer window, this story is nowhere near finished.
The forward’s refusal to play leaves Newcastle with a major dilemma, while Liverpool wait in the background for the situation to reach breaking point.
If Newcastle relent, Liverpool could yet land one of Europe’s most dangerous strikers before deadline day.
