Report: Crystal Palace now eyeing move to sign 'sensational' Arsenal defender

Crystal Palace are reportedly eyeing Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior as a replacement for Liverpool-linked Marc Guehi.

CaughtOffside reports that Kiwior has attracted interest from three Premier League clubs, including Palace, who could soon be without their skipper, Guehi. The English centre-back is on Arne Slot's radar, and talks for the 25-year-old are set to "recommence" on Monday (August 18).

Kiwior's future is uncertain amid the Gunners' strengthening their defence with the arrival of Christian Mosquera from Valencia. The 21-year-old joins a strong pool of defenders at the Emirates, which could mean the North Londoners may look to offload.

It's claimed that Arsenal had "blocked" previous attempts by clubs to try and sign Kiwior. Mikel Arteta views him as a versatile asset and there are suggestions a contract offer is on the way.

But Kiwior may be wary of his first-team opportunities, having already settled for a substitute role over the past few seasons. Arteta often prefers Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba in central defence.

Palace could face competition from Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers for the Polish centre-back. He has three years left on his contract and is also garnering interest from Serie A clubs AC Milan and Juventus, as well as Portuguese giants FC Porto.

Oliver Glasner will want to ensure a replacement arrives should Guehi leave before the transfer window closes on September 1. The Englishman has been one of the Austrian's most important players and was key in the Eagles' FA Cup triumph.

Kiwior, once dubbed "sensational", might not provide the leadership of Guehi, but his versatility could be hugely effective for Glasner ahead of a Europa Conference League campaign. He appeared 30 times across competitions last season, occasionally used at left-back.

The 25-year-old joined Arsenal from Italian outfit Spezia in January 2023 for a reported £20m. Arteta played down talk of the Poland international leaving earlier this year by talking up his presence in the dressing room.
