Manchester United have slammed the same old goalkeeping problem 12 minutes into the new season.
In the absence of Andre Onana, who missed out through fitness issues, second-choice stopper Altay Bayindir was given his chance. But following a promising start from United, which saw all four sides of the ground creating an electric atmosphere, United conceded.
A corner whipped in from the right by Declan Rice underneath Bayindir's crossbar saw the United keeper embarrassingly attempt to flap the ball away.
Pinned by William Saliba, the Turkey international got the faintest of hands on the ball to flick it from crossing the line, but instead the ball virtually landed on the head of Riccardo Calafiori, who headed in from on the goal line.
The goal completely halted United's early momentum as Mikel Arteta's side soon took command of the game, leaving the hosts restricted to counter-attacks, with Bryan Mbeumo at the heart of the moves.
Fans took to social media to blast the hapless United keeper, with one user saying: "So ridiculously basic, p*** off Bayindr, weak as hell. Just amateur, amateur beyond belief."
A second slammed: "I’d rather see a youth goalkeeper play than this current clown. Embarrassingly bad Bayindir." While a third echoed: "Bayindr has no presence at all man, he's not built for prem sell please."

Another fumed: "Bayindir useless yet again." A fifth added: "Bayindir is the only keeper in the league worse than Onana, absolutely useless". As a sixth said: "Bayindir is Andre Onana 2.0."
Onana wasn't involved in the matchday squad as the Cameroon international continues to recover from an injury that saw him miss pre-season. However, there was hope that Onana could return to the team for the league opener at Old Trafford.
United have also been linked to Gianluigi Donnarumma - but they will face competition from Manchester City for his signature, who themselves left their first-choice keeper out of their Premier League opener.
