These Champions League clubs’ hesitation was not because of an on-field issue, since no one doubted the natural talent in him. The issue, instead, was his attitude and demeanor. Scouting personnel and decision-makers witnessed incidents that raised red flags. First, after he was substituted on the field, he marched directly down the tunnel without saluting his teammates and coaches.

Although there is a difference between United’s valuation (£50 million) and Chelsea’s offer (£35 million), the two clubs are continuing to negotiate. The reason negotiations are ongoing is that the Blues have not given up — especially if other similar deals like the Jamie Bynoe-Gittens transfer collapse.
What This Means for Garnacho and his Future
For Garnacho himself, it is a wake-up call. Natural ability will only get you so far, but clubs have already shown that attitude is worth just as much. If he wants to earn a clean start at another club, especially the Premier League, he needs to prove he’s prepared to learn from his errors. Manchester United are already prepared to wait for the right transfer. They are also waiting on him to get his act right and also for the right attitude.
What This Means for Manchester United
With Manchester United, the Garnacho affair is a balancing act on the high wire. On the one hand, they can see that he can turn a game on its head in a minute or two. His pace, flair, and directness are assets few wingers share. On the other, the attitude issues make it all the harder for the club to invest wholly in him. This creates an issue for the long-term vision. United’s hierarchy now face a choice: do they continue to invest in him, hoping maturity will rub the rough edges off, or do they sell him while the market is good? Either option requires the club to balance talent with temperament, always an uneasy choice to make.
