As Juventus look to be relatively close to securing their first signing in weeks with the (re-)addition of Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain, it appears as though the Bianconeri could very well be trying to do a little more shopping in Ligue 1 before the summer mercato comes to a close in a couple of weeks.
And certainly the kind of player that would add something to a team that add a nice dynamic to an attack that has seen a good portion of Juve’s summer attention span used.
According to Fabrizio Romano on Sunday, Juventus have made contacts regarding a potential move for Lille winger Edon Zhegrova, who has been of particular interest of Olympique Marseille over the last couple of weeks. As Romano points out in his reporting on his YouTube channel, the contacts regarding a potential move for Zhegrova have been with both his reps and with Lille itself, meaning the interest is very much concrete. Juventus are expected to meet with Zhegrova’s agents at some point next week to see if a move for the 26-year-old Kosovo international is truly possible, but also with the caveat that they will almost certainly need to sell first — namely Nico González — to facilitate something in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Zhegrova is currently in the final year of his contract at Lille and has previously stated that he doesn’t plan to renew his deal as he seeks a new club either this summer or next. He was not part of Lille’s squad for their season-opening 3-3 draw with Brest on Sunday.
As talks between Lille and Marseille are described as “advanced,” this is not the first time that Zhegrova has been linked with a move to a club in Serie A during the 2025 calendar year. During the January transfer window when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was all set to head off to France to join Paris Saint-Germain,
Just how much Juventus might need to invest in a deal to secure Zhegrova is relatively unknown. While talks are “advanced” it’s hard to tell really just how close a deal between Lille and Marseille actually is. And with Juventus suddenly trying to meet with Zhegrova’s representatives next week, there’s obviously some kind of opening that Damien Comolli feels like he can try and get into by swooping in late and take advantage of Zhegrova still being on the market.
Previous reporting has suggested that Marseille are trying to sign Zhegrova on loan with an obligation to buy next summer.
A teammate of new Juventus striker Jonathan David the past four seasons at Lille, Zhegrova is coming off a 2024-25 campaign in which he was unable to replicate the strong performances of the year prior. In the 2023-24 season with Lille, Zhegrova finished with 11 goals and 10 assists across 45 appearances and nearly 3,000 minutes in all competitions. Last season, Zhegrova had five goals and two assists, but only played a total of 1,340 minutes in all competitions after he was limited with what proved to be a long-term injury absence that first started in mid-December.
