Breaking: Chiefs’ Dream Trade Target Just Became Available “They’re Taking Offers”

Super Bowl 59 left a sour taste in the mouths of the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite being one win away from a three-peat, the team feels they have a lot to prove in 2025. Namely: They’re still championship contenders. As it turns out, there could be a massive trade on the way that would put their defense on another level.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero:

With contract talks at an impasse, the#Bengals are listening to trade offers for four-time Pro Bowl DE Trey Hendrickson, sources tell me andRapSheet.

No deal is imminent. But the NFL’s reigning sack leader is available for the right price.

Chiefs fans immediately started pounding the table for a Hendrickson trade:

Trey hendrickson to the chiefs for sky moore and 3 second round picks

As long as Trey Hendrickson doesn’t end up being traded to the Ravens or Chiefs. And why would the Bengals trade him to another AFC contender especially a team in their own division? I’m more than good as a Texans fan. Gotta take down the Ravens and Chiefs this year. No excuses!!

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson (91) forces a fumble of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (15) in the second quarter during a Week 17 NFL football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs, Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.

It has been widely believed that it would take at least a first and third rounder to snag the elite pass rusher. However, being 30-years-old (will be 31 before the season is over) will make it difficult for teams to give up numerous premium draft picks.

As he pursues a new contract, Hendrickson returned to training camp on July 30 despite holding out during training camp. However it would appear things have soured since then. His on-field value lately has been remarkable:

His 57 sacks since joining the Bengals in 2021 are the third most in the NFL over the past four seasons.

Both sides remain far off on the amount of guaranteed money Hendrickson will receive, along with how much he gets during the early years of the deal. He is scheduled to earn $15.8 million in base salary this season and has a cap number of $18.7 million.

If the Bengals and Hendrickson can bridge the gap, it will complete a trifecta of signing three of their top players to lucrative extensions.

In March, Ja’Marr Chase’s $161 million contract made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL at the time, and Tee Higgins’ $115 million deal made him one of the league’s top 10 highest-paid receivers.
