Evangelos Marinakis was at the City Ground as Nottingham Forest defeated Brentford in their Premier League curtain-raiser for 2025/26.
The Forest owner has endured some stick this summer after his part in supposedly getting Crystal Palace kicked out of the Europa League this season.
Marinakis doesn’t care, though, and nobody can say that he doesn’t have his club’s best interests at heart with the first three points of the season now on the board for Forest.
One thing Marinakis did this summer was persuade Morgan Gibbs-White to stay, and he registered an assist during the 3-1 victory in which Chris Wood scored twice and Dan Ndoye bagged on his debut.
Marinakis sat in his usual seat in The Peter Taylor Stand as Forest won, and after the game, he was extremely impressed with one of his players.

The Nottingham Forest player Evangelos Marinakis gave a round of applause to
There was a lot to like about the first City Ground performance of the season, with Forest actually enjoying good spells in possession of the ball.
Gibbs-White was at the heart of that and after an acrobatic effort that left Caoimhin Kelleher stranded in the second half, Forest fans showed their appreciation.
Although the effort was high and not on target, the City Ground rose to its feet to let Gibbs-White know that his efforts were being appreciated.

Marinakis was spotted giving him a round of applause at the end of the game too, with Gibbs-White having come off with around 10 minutes of the game remaining.
The 25-year-old is clearly going to be one of Forest’s most influential performers once again and the hope will be that he can remain as the form player during a World Cup year.
Gibbs-White now joint-top assist maker for Forest
After his assist for Dan Ndoye’s goal today, Gibbs-White now joins Ian Woan on 27 assists for Forest in the Premier League era.
The Reds are so lucky to have Gibbs-White still in their ranks and after missing out on the Champions League last season, it felt as though the England man might leave.
However, Marinakis worked his magic and the rest is now history, with Forest handing Gibbs-White the captain’s armband for the first game of the campaign.
There are still things that Gibbs-White needs to work on going forward as the season progresses but on today’s showing, there is no sign of him pining for a move any time soon.
