CINCINNATI (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER) -The Cincinnati Bengals are listening to trade offers for defensive end Trey Hendrickson, according to a report Sunday from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
The report added that contract talks are at an impasse, and a trade will be a real challenge, but time will tell.
In July on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Ryan Clark, Jeff Darlington, Jeremy Fowler, Mike Tannenbaum, and Mike Greenberg teed off on the Bengals’ defense despite offseason additions through free agency and the draft, as well as key players returning from injury.
Hendrickson did not play in the Bengals’ first preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Hendrickson, in his ninth NFL season and fifth with the Bengals, was involved in a contract dispute with the Bengals during the offseason.
Hendrickson’s season total of 17.5 sacks led the NFL during the 2024 season, giving him the first league sack title in his eight NFL seasons. Hendrickson matched the career-best 17.5 sacks he had the previous season.
Hendrickson was named a Pro Bowler in 2024 for the fourth time in four seasons with the team.
He had 3.5 sacks during the Bengals’ NFL Week 18 win in Pittsburgh.
Hendrickson suffered a neck injury during Cincinnati’s Week 4 game against the Carolina Panthers in 2024.
More from Rapoport via Twitter/X:
The #Bengals have always done their due diligence. But timing is now of the essence.
This will be expensive, likely with a young player and a future pick if possible. A challenge for sure — especially because the #Bengals are a playoff-ready team. https://t.co/nauDkkCSLk
