Report: Arsenal make contact to sign 'game-changer' Champions League winner, he wants to leave

Arsenal could turn to Paris Saint-Germain to sign midfield star Lee Kang-in over the coming weeks, according to reports - with the Gunners having 'made contact' to seek out a potential deal for the former Valencia talent in a bid to pad out their squad with the transfer window deadline slowly closing in.

Arsenal have had a huge window so far, with notable additions being Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, Noni Madueke from Chelsea and their marquee addition, Viktor Gyokeres, arriving from Sporting. There is more money to be spent, however, and that could see them force a move through for the 24-year-old 'game-changer' in the next fortnight.

The report by CaughtOffside states that Kang-in is seriously considering the possibility of leaving PSG, having been linked with moves away from the club in the past - and Arsenal are keen on securing his signature.

Kang-in has a contract running until 2028, which means he may not come cheap for Mikel Arteta if he wishes to add the South Korean to his ranks in the coming weeks of the transfer window. But the tricky midfielder has struggled for game time in the French capital amid the strong performances of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele - and that could see him force his hand.

PSG are thought to want to keep the former Valencia star, but won't stand in his way if a suitable offer is made to them. As a result, Arsenal are 'closely following' the situation of the playmaker, having made 'direct contact' with the Champions League winners to land the silky star with just two weeks of the window remaining.

If they can conjure up a good offer, it would see Kang-in link up with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard in the attacking ranks, though he may have to contend for minutes alongside Noni Madueke, Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman in any case.

The Gunners will be hoping to win the Premier League after finishing second in each of the last three seasons, with Arteta keen on winning silverware after a five-year spell without picking up a major honour at the Emirates Stadium.

Kang-in joined PSG in 2023, and has since featured in 86 games for the French champions, scoring 13 goals in all competitions as he helped the club to a treble with 30 league appearances and 11 outings in the Champions League.
