Jonathan Kuminga believes he’s on the same level as two NBA All-Stars

Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga reportedly sees himself on the same level as players like Cade Cunningham and Scottie Barnes.

The Golden State Warriors–Jonathan Kuminga saga still hasn’t progressed on either side.

Kuminga doesn’t want to return to the veteran-heavy Warriors unless he receives a long-term, high-paying deal, while the team is only willing to offer a short-term extension.

With his role on the Warriors likely remaining similar to last season—primarily as an energy player coming off the bench—Kuminga doesn’t want to settle. He wants to prove he belongs among the league’s top young players with a larger role.

Reportedly, Kuminga views himself on the same level as some NBA All-Stars, which has significantly complicated contract talks.

“He apparently thinks he’s at the Cade Cunningham–Scottie Barnes level, where he should get that type of contract. It’s really a quandary. I think it’s bad for the Warriors and bad for him," Ron Kroichick from San Francisco Chronicle reports.

According to multiple reports, the Sacramento Kings are the most likely trade destination for Kuminga, as they are preparing to offer him a major role on the team.

Last season, Kuminga averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists over 47 games (10 starts, 24.3 minutes per game).
