Bruno Fernandes thinks two ‘dangerous’ Man Utd stars vs Arsenal have not shown full potential, ‘they are a threat…’

Bruno Fernandes has insisted that Manchester United are “very aware” of what two players can offer them after the 1-0 loss to Arsenal in the Premier League.

Manchester United hosted Arsenal at Old Trafford for their opening Premier League match of the 2025-26 campaign under Ruben Amorim on Sunday afternoon.

However, Ruben Amorim’s men were forced to walk away empty-handed from Old Trafford on the weekend after Arsenal inflicted a 1-0 defeat on United.

Riccardo Calafiori ensured that Arsenal secured all three Premier League points in their season opener, with the defender breaking the deadlock in the first half.

The 23-year-old Arsenal defender put the Gunners 1-0 up in only the 13th minute at Old Trafford after he netted from close range following a Declan Rice corner.

Matheus Cunha started the match in the left-sided No 10 position in Amorim’s tactical system, while Bryan Mbeumo was in the same role on the opposite flank.

Both Mbeumo and Cunha, who were signed from Brentford and Wolves respectively this summer, played the full 90 minutes for the Red Devils in Sunday’s defeat.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Bruno Fernandes suggested that the former Wolves ace and ex-Brentford star can “do much better” as the season progresses for United.

“They created a lot, they were in the right positions,” he said, as per BBC Sport.

“We know they are dangerous and they are a threat. We are very aware of what they can give to the team.

“It was a good first impression for them but I’m pretty sure they will do much better.”

United captain Fernandes added: “There are positive things to look at like scoring goals.

“I really liked the reaction of the fans at the end. I really appreciate what they did.

“That was more a sign of hope than what we did during the game.”

United will now return to Premier League action in the 2025-26 season away from home and the Red Devils will face Fulham at Craven Cottage next Sunday.
