If Philadelphia Eagles fans listen closely, they might still hear the echoes of San Francisco 49ers fans still complaining about the 2023 NFC Championship game. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was able to pick up another win for the Eagles over the 49ers off the field.
On Sunday, the Eagles executed a trade with the Houston Texans, as both sides swapped Day 3 draft picks. Philadelphia acquired wide receiver John Metchie, while Houston received tight end Harrison Bryant. The Eagles once again getting another great pass target isn't the best part of the deal.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz added that the San Francisco 49ers were also in the running to get Metchie, but Roseman worked his magic and made the Texans an offer they couldn't refuse.

Roseman does it again in the best way possible
There's no other way to put it. This is another great move by Roseman as it is the second straight year where he doesn't wait for the regular season to start to make a trade for a wide receiver. The Eagles acquired Jahan Dotson from the Washington Commanders last year, but fans know how that worked out in 2024.
This is Roseman's second trade since training camp, as he brought in more competition at cornerback with his trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Eagles got cornerback Jakorian Bennett for defensive lineman Thomas Booker IV.
Eagles fans are starting to see the aggressiveness from Roseman that wasn't really seen during the offseason. Outside of him trading up one spot in the first-round of the 2025 NFL Draft, there were some moves made, but nothing like Eagles fans have seen in the past few years.
The trade is a win-win situation for the Eagles. Their tight end room is so deep that Harrison was not going to make the roster. At the same time, Metchie makes an already deep wide receiver room even deeper.

Of course, the best part of this deal is taking one more from that West Coast team Philly fans aren't particularly fond of.
