Vitor Pereira shares four things that impress him about Manchester City after his Wolves side…

Manchester City hammered Wolves to begin the 2025/26 campaign in style.

A double from Erling Haaland was supplemented by goals from Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki on their Premier League debuts for Manchester City – following moves from AC Milan and Lyon respectively.

It was a match of little controversy and simply a quite significant difference in quality, with Vitor Pereira appreciative of what Pep Guardiola has created.

Vitor Pereira says Manchester City are “strong” in four areas

The official Wolves website quote the 57-year-old as saying: “We tried to do our best to get a good result, but it was not possible because we faced a strong team, technically strong, individually strong, tactically strong (and) with a lot of options.”

Guardiola certainly does have a lot of options, with the Spaniard able to bring talents such as Cherki and Omar Marmoush off the bench, not to mention Matheus Nunes, Abdukodir Khusanov and Nico O’Reilly.

Pereira added: “We had our chances to score, but each time that we committed a mistake, they punished us with a goal. Every time they committed mistakes, and we had a chance to score, we missed the goal – it was the difference between one team and the other team.”

Manchester City could get stronger

Guardiola can already boast a starting XI of top players, but more world class talents could soon arrive.

Manchester City are understood to want Rodrygo if Savinho does end up sealing a move to Tottenham, and the Real Madrid No.11 would be a real coup for the Citizens.

The Brazil international scored 17 goals and provided nine assists in 51 appearances for Real Madrid across all competitions last season, and has helped the Spanish giants win two UEFA Champions League titles amongst many other trophies.

Furthermore, L’Equipe believe Manchester City have agreed terms with Gianluigi Donnarumma, a Ballon d’Or-nominated goalkeeper who would provide a fierce competitor for James Trafford.

The PSG No.1 has already been replaced by Lucas Chevalier, and is up for sale as the Parisians aim to avoid losing the Italian on a free transfer next summer, when his contract expires.

If Manchester City didn’t already look strong enough against Wolves, it could get even better for Guardiola.
