Kudus magic, Richarlison revival & more: Three talking points as Tottenham beat Burnley 3-0 in…

Tottenham Hotspur had a very good start to the new Premier League season. Thomas Frank’s men clinically took apart newly promoted side Burnley, securing an important three points at the N17.

A brace from Richarlison and a goal from Brennan Johnson helped Frank get his first win as Spurs’ manager in the Premier League. It was not just the scoreline but also the quality of football on display that caught the eye.

After an absolutely disastrous season last time around, under a new manager, it was important for the players to set the expectations right for the upcoming campaign. It is safe to say that the Danish tactician seems to be drilling them in the right direction.

**With all this in mind, here are three talking points from TTLB for Tottenham, as they beat the Clarets 3-0 at the N17 to get their campaign underway.**

Mohammed Kudus was Thomas Frank’s first major move as Tottenham manager and he has already become a fan favourite in these early weeks. The Ghanaian attacker had a brilliant debut against Burnley last night.

Frank gave the ex-West Ham United star a start on the right wing, and he looks to be switched on from the first minute. Kudus was full of tricks and flair and also came up with the end-product when needed.

Kudus cut to the byline and put in a dangerous-looking cross into the box that Richarlison cleverly converted for Spurs’ first goal. The duo were at it again when another cross from the Ghanaian was acrobatically converted by the Brazilian.

If yesterday was a trailer of what was to come from Kudus on the right wing, there is every reason for the N17 faithful to be excited about what lies ahead this season and beyond.

To say that Richarlison’s time at Tottenham so far has been a disaster would be an understatement. Until the game against Burnley, there hasn’t been much joy for the Brazilian during his time at the N17.

However, with Dominic Solanke still a bit away from full fitness, Thomas Frank gave the ex Evertonian a chance as a starter and boy, didn’t he take it!

Richarlison had an excellent centre-forward game against the Clarets. He held the ball up very well at every opportunity, laid it off expertly for his teammates and showcased a lot of strength.

His two finishes on the night, both half-volleys, are for the history book. Is 2025/26 going to be the redemption season for Richarlison in a Spurs jersey? Only time will tell…

One of the brave calls that Thomas Frank made ahead of the game against Burnley was to start with a midfield partnership of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall ahead of Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur.

The latter was tasked with playing in a more advanced role by Frank and the young Swede walked away with all the plaudits. Bergvall ran the show in midfield like a seasoned pro.

The teenager almost played like Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong in the Spurs midfield with the way he was driving up the pitch with the ball at his feet.

Spurs fans will be hoping that Frank gives Bergvall an extended run and places a lot of trust in him. There is a serious player in the making and let’s wait and see how things play out in the coming weeks.
