Former Penn State star throws shade at the New York Jets

Ex-Penn State star Abdul Carter had his ‘Welcome to the NFL’ moment on Saturday night, and his response to it is making the rounds on social media.

Carter’s New York Giants beat the New York Jets 31-12 in their second preseason game on Saturday, but it didn’t come with a little bit of humbling for the former Penn State standout.

At one point in the game, while attempting to rush the passer, [Carter was leveled](https://x.com/nfl/status/1957121927572521045?s=46&t=SF-knYTy_vdKy3mmfTQuvQ) by a nasty chip block from Jets TE Stone Smartt. The clip went viral on social media with many calling it his official ‘Welcome to the NFL’ moment as mentioned earlier.

[Carter then took to X](https://x.com/1ncrdb1/status/1957126304844665067?s=46&t=SF-knYTy_vdKy3mmfTQuvQ) the following afternoon, delivering a bit of shade towards the Jets in a comment that will surely sit well with Giants fans.

“Might be the only highlight of the Jets all season and we put BTA,” Carter said in the tweet. “Weak ass chip ate that mf like bbq.”

Carter has accumulated just a single tackle in limited action during each of the Giants’ preseason games thus far.

Carter was drafted with the third overall pick by the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Nittany Lions, racking up 23.0 sacks, and 41 tackles for loss. In his junior season in 2024, he racked up 12.0 sacks, and led the nation in tackles for loss with 24. After being one of the best pass rushers in the country while at Penn State, Carter will now continue that legacy in the NFL.
